Peter Hoskin is to be Prospect’s new books and culture editor, in succession to Sameer Rahim, who has moved to a job in publishing.
Hoskin was most recently the executive editor of Tortoise Media, where he had also been responsible for culture and technology. He devised and ran one of Tortoise Media’s most popular editorial strands, Slow Reviews, which act as a history of popular culture through its most significant moments.
Before Tortoise, Hoskin was deputy editor at a new magazine, Drugstore Culture, and for four years, online editor at the Spectator. He will continue to be the chief games critic of the Daily Mail.
He has written for numerous publications, including the Times, Daily Telegraph, the TLS, Paris Review and Spectator.
Sameer Rahim, who was also joint deputy editor of Prospect, is joining the Bridge Street Press as non-fiction publisher.

Hoskin said: “I’m thrilled to be joining such a brilliant crew of editors and writers at Prospect. Under the stewardship of Sameer Rahim, the arts and books pages have become some of the best in the business. I hope to maintain that—and perhaps even add to it.”
Hoskin joins Prospect at the end of October.
