Dan Jackson is the best-selling author of The Northumbrians: North East England and its People, A New History, which was a Sunday Times Book of the Year in 2019. He holds a PhD in British Political History from Northumbria University, and now works as a director in the North East regional NHS. He has written for the New Statesman and History Today and is a regular contributor to Unherd. He has also appeared as an expert on the BBC’s Who Do You Think You Are? and Radio 4’s Start the Week. He was recently appointed as a Trustee of Beamish, the Living Museum of the North.
