Christiane Gruber is Professor of Islamic Art and Chair of the History of Art Department at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. She is a specialist of Islamic manuscripts, depictions of the Prophet Muhammad, and illustrated Books of Ascension. A recipient of the Guggenheim Fellowship and other prestigious awards, she is the author of "The Praiseworthy One: the Prophet Muhammad in Islamic Texts and Images."
